Hi, I'm Bas 👋
Being a business designer, I design and launch new digital products and services. I bring ideas from concept and prototype to a first version and market launch.
Data enables new ways of delivering services. I help organizations to capitalize on opportunities with the data they already have or have yet to gather. With a strong background in innovation and tech, I know how to translate customer/user needs into products and services with a clear added value.
My approach is to find a balance between business (what's in it for us?), customer (do they want it?), and tech (is it technically feasible?). When the stars align and those three themes are right, then there will be success.
As a lead multidisciplinary product or innovation team, I make sure we find answers on the three aforementioned themes. I often make use of tools and techniques from The Lean Startup and Design Thinking. In addition, I organize and structure the agile development of the product and keep stakeholders involved.

Below are some projects that I have proudly worked on.
📣 Next best messaging machine
I guided an innovation team to enable proactive and relevant communication with customers on a large scale. I helped the team from idea to MVP by designing cheap, quick experiments before we started developing this next best messaging machine.
📄 Launching an information management platform
The client receives an enormous amount of financial reports and research through various channels daily. The amount and dissemination ensured that the information was insufficiently or incorrectly used. A platform was built where users could view, rate, discuss and share all information with the 200+ colleagues. I helped a team understand user needs, technical feasibility, and economic viability after which the platform was developed in scrum sprints.
🦹 Masking privacy-sensitive data
An archive dating back many years (with scans of documents, emails, and structured data) contained privacy-sensitive and medical data from customers. That data had to be masked for specific users who don't have clearance to access certain data. I helped a team investigate technical feasibility and economic viability.
👯 Smart collaboration in city centers
The goal of this project was to enable better collaboration between (retail, hotels, musea) entrepreneurs in city centers. Using smart business rules and Machine Learning I could find patterns on how to create a win-win, and match entrepreneurs to each other. I designed, developed, and launched the platform (Benchmarket).

- 15+ years of experience with software development as a developer, product owner, scrum master, and consultant.
- 5+ years of experience coaching over 60 product/innovation teams and startups.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Lean Startup, Design Thinking, and Service Design.
- 3+ years of experience with corporate innovation management and innovation strategy.
